Bible Buddy ("we", "our", or "us") is a personal Bible study app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

Information We Collect

When you create an account and use Bible Buddy, we collect:

• Account information — your name and email address, used to create and manage your account.
• Study activity — verses you look up, questions you ask, reading plans you create, and verses you save. This is stored to power your personal library and progress tracking.
• Community content — posts, comments, and replies you choose to share in the community section.
• Usage statistics — your study streak, total verses explored, and session counts, used to display your progress and unlock achievements.

We do not collect payment information, location data, contacts, or any data from your device beyond what is listed above.

How We Use Your Information

• To create and authenticate your account.
• To save your study history, bookmarks, and reading plans across devices.
• To display your progress stats and achievements.
• To show your posts and comments in the community section.
• To send account-related emails (verification, password reset) when you request them.

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising.

Third-Party Services

Bible Buddy uses the following third-party services to operate:

• Firebase (Google) — handles account authentication and stores your data securely in Firestore. Firebase Privacy Policy
• Anthropic Claude API — powers the AI Bible study assistant. When you ask a question about a verse, the verse text and your question are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response. Anthropic does not use this data to train their models by default. Anthropic Privacy Policy

Data Retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your personal data, study history, saved verses, and reading plans from our systems.

Children's Privacy

Bible Buddy is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly from within the app.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
